Without internet
Tracking despite bad venue wifi — how it works.
Wifi in a lot of venues is terrible. SportsFlow is built so you can keep tapping anyway.
What works without internet
- All buttons and follow-up questions while tracking
- The match clock keeps running
- Substitutions and who's on court
- All new entries are cached locally
What needs internet
- First opening a match (loading data)
- Uploading entries
- Undo on entries that are already uploaded
- Mirroring into a paired match — it happens on the server, so shots recorded offline only reach the opponent after uploading
What happens in the background?
SportsFlow remembers everything on the device and sends it up automatically once there's a connection again. You don't need to save anything extra.
- Entries not yet uploaded are marked in the list
- No constant pop-ups — it runs quietly in the background
- If it's stuck for a while: a short message with "Try again"
Match clock without a connection
The clock doesn't stop if you briefly lose signal. Once there's a connection again, SportsFlow reconciles the state.
Several devices on the same match
Works — as many as you like. Every action lands in the match as its own entry; ones recorded offline are simply added later. Three things to know:
- Tapped twice = counted twice. If two people record the same goal, it's in there twice — in the score too. Split the work, e.g. one person attack, the other defence.
- Clock and lineup run per device. Start and pause the clock as close to simultaneously as you can so match times line up.
- You don't see what the others record live — only after reloading. In the analysis after the match it's all together.
