Preparation

The folder for the next match — matchday roster, plays, video, scenes, observations and shooter profiles in one place, shared with one click.

The preparation is the folder for the next match. Every match of yours gets exactly one — it's created automatically with the match, nothing to set up. It starts as a draft for the coaching staff; once you share it, the team sees it. Video analysis and preparation are part of the Pro plan.

New to video? Read the glossary first — it explains exactly what video, scene, tag and involved mean.

Opening it

The preparation is a view of the match. A match that hasn't started yet opens straight in the preparation. Once there are stats, it opens on the stats — the Preparation | Stats switch at the top of the match takes you back.

In the match list, every upcoming match carries one chip: In preparation while the folder is a draft (coaches only), Preparation ready once it's shared. The dashboard's "Next match" card has its own button.

Top right in the header you'll find help ? and Share — once shared, Manage sharing. While the folder is a draft, the Preparation tab carries a Draft badge. After the match the preparation simply stays open.

The areas

Below the tab, a switcher picks the area:

AreaContent
Squad & playsThe matchday roster (whoever may track can set it; everyone else sees it) and the plays that matter for this match.
Video & scenesYour match video, the linked observations with their videos, and the scenes. For players, the area is called Scenes and comes first.
OpponentObservations, shooter profiles and earlier matches against this opponent.
After the matchCoaching staff only, after full time — sync the video, scenes from actions.

How to prepare a match

  1. Set the roster — in Squad & plays.
  2. Add observations — via Add observation, ideally by importing the match. Each observation's video comes along. Upload your own match video via Match video. Details: Observations and Videos.
  3. Cut scenes — in the video studio: start, end, tags, comment, involved. Before a return leg, Import tags brings over the tags from the first leg.
  4. Pick plays — from your playbook.
  5. Check shooter profiles — they come in automatically from observations.
  6. Share — the team sees the folder.
  7. Video session — with Present on the projector.

Videos in the preparation

A preparation holds exactly two kinds of videos: your match video (every match has at most one) and the videos of linked observations. You don't pull in a single video without its observation. The main button is Add observation; Match video (upload or link) only shows while your match has no video yet. Clicking a video card opens the studio with exactly that video.

The first leg and other earlier matches of yours are listed under Earlier matches in the Opponent area — their video isn't part of this preparation.

The scenes you cut belong to this preparation. Scenes aren't shared between preparations — not even when two preparations use the same observation: each cuts its own. More in the glossary.

Scenes

Scenes show up as tiles per tag: count, tag name and a thin bar showing how much has been watched. Click a tile to play that tag's scenes; Play all plays everything. Below sits the collapsed list All n scenes. Grouping and order are the same as in Present: if a scene has several tags, it shows up under each of them.

The info button explains who sees what: once shared, the whole team sees every scene — except Coaches only and scenes from linked (not uploaded) scouting videos.

One player for everyone

Play opens the present view for coaches and players alike. Players get a watch-only version: no drawing, Your scenes first — on the phone too. A scene counts as watched once the player leaves it or it plays to the end.

Watched

After sharing, coaches see k of n players complete. Click it to open a side sheet with two tabs:

  • Players — expand a player to see which scenes are still open.
  • Scenes — expand a scene to see who has and hasn't watched it.

Only players with a linked app account count.

Scenes are cut and edited in the video studio.

Sharing

Share top right in the header opens a sheet with one button; once shared, the button reads Manage sharing. Sharing always applies to the whole team — there's no picking individual players.

  • Share — the team sees the folder, the match list shows Preparation ready.
  • Update — after changes to a folder that's already shared.
  • Withdraw — the folder goes back to being a draft.

You fine-tune per scene: Visible to: Coaches only keeps it with the staff, Involved puts it at the very top for that player under "Your scenes". The ground rule: whatever you share, everyone sees — unless the scene is "Coaches only".

Shooter profiles include jersey numbers and shot data. Names only show if they're in the opponent roster. After sharing, the preparation shows who has watched everything — see Watched.

What players see

Players only see shared preparations — without sharing, an upcoming match shows "No preparation yet". In the shared folder:

  1. Scenes — first: Your scenes (involved), then the tiles per tag. Play opens the player for watching.
  2. Squad & plays — matchday roster read only, plays as an animation.
  3. Opponent — shooter profiles, swipeable on the phone.

Players never see scenes set to Coaches only, nor scenes from linked (not uploaded) scouting videos. They don't see an observation's raw video either — only the shared scenes from it.

Goalkeepers find observations and shooter profiles in the Opponent area.

Goalkeepers before publishing

While the preparation is still a draft, a goalkeeper (linked roster player, goalkeeper position) already sees Observations and Shooter profiles in the Opponent area — that's where they prepare themselves. Everything else (videos, scenes, plays) stays closed until it's shared, and the folder shows a note about it. Field players see nothing in a draft.

Observations

An observation belongs to none of your own matches. You link it to a preparation on purpose — the same observation can sit in several preparations, say before the first and the return leg. Linked means: the observation and its video are in the preparation, and each preparation cuts its own scenes from it — say "Back-court shots No. 7", with that exact shooter as involved.

Add observation (in the Opponent area and as the main button in Video & scenes):

  1. Ideally Import match — shots and line-up come along right away. Matches already imported are simply added, not created twice.
  2. Otherwise Create manually — the observed team is already the opponent, and afterwards you go straight to tracking.
  3. Already there lists observations of the opponent that aren't in this preparation yet — one click links them.

Each row shows the date, the number of recorded shots and whether there's a video. Remove from preparation takes the observation and its video back out; the observation itself stays with the opponent.

Shooter profiles

The shooter profiles of the opponent's shooters land here automatically — with a compact comparison table from two recorded shooters on. Scenes where an opponent player is involved show up in their profile under "Scenes of No. X".

Plays

In Squad & plays you pick from your playbook what matters for this match — active plays are suggested. Players see the selection as an animation.

After the match

After full time the preparation stays open and the coaching staff get the After the match area: your own match video with Sync (see Sync) and a note on creating scenes from actions: while watching, the scissors on an action open the studio at that spot. For the next match against the same opponent, this match shows up there under Earlier matches — bring its tags into the new folder with Import tags.

Which device?

Reading the preparation, playing scenes and "Your scenes" work everywhere. Studio, Present for video sessions and Sync are on the web and the iPad; on the phone, coaches upload videos. Overview: Devices.
